Goff calls on National to do what Labour refused to do
The Government has raised the minimum wage to $12.50 per hour so those on a low income can meet their essential bills on their extra $3.60 per week. Labour leader Phil Goff said it should have been raised to $13.00 an hour, yet Labour had no policy to increase the minimum wage on April 1 or to even draft a bill to legislate for any regular increase, despite what the fat boy from the whanau says.
If you are a low income person on the minimum wage and you run out of money, you`ll be entitled to WINZ food grants which will be more than your annual pay increase - particularly if you have kids. So make use of them.
