Peter Dunne for Speaker? Yeah right
Audrey Young is normally pretty onto it, but she interviewed her typewriter this week and her typewriter said that Peter Dunne is tipped for a Speakers role after the election.
Problem is, he isn't. Why on earth would a party leader like Dunne want to be a speaker? I just happened to bump into Dunne in the local mall - as one does - and he said he does not want to be speaker, and the rumour is false. He's going to be a Cabinet Minister.
So, that settles that, then.

Good.
I'm still hoping for Cullen as Speaker.
Dunne was my local MP from 1984 in Karori through to 1998 in Ohariu, when I shifted to Kapiti.
He's was a decent sort. But his time is past. United Future is a fiction. It will disappear without him. If I lived in Ohariu-Belmont today, I would be voting for the person I thought most likely to beat him....probably Labour. They came second last time.
