Another first time National voter

Which well known household name - a former Labour voter - has spent five years in periodic detention centres, served two prison sentences, has been arrested 33 times, has written two books and has been voting the minor parties recently - is going to be a first time National voter in 2008.

Answer here.

The link says he has come full circle from a centre left voter to supporting National. However one could reasonably argue that that National has shifted to the left!

what's that got to do with it? Under your argument, he would not have voted Labour in the 1980s as Labour's shift to the right was bigger than Nationals current slight shift to the left.

But he did.

dave, it was somewhat tongue in cheek. I was just making the point that while National is touted as centre right it (along with some other "conservative" parties elsewhere) is much more liberal than its heritage.

I don't doubt that Shadbolt has shifted his political theory, many do; however those who don't change may need to change allegiances as their parties do.
