Editing blogs

Some may know that blogger James Coe was threatened with legal action over pinching the NZ Herald masthead for his blog Editing The Herald, a blog dedicated to"getting angry at things printed in each day's New Zealand Herald".

Now another blog has popped up. It is Editing The Standard, by a guy called Burt, who can't spell. The Standard is a Labour- aligned blog.

But the Editing The Standard blog needs editing. Today's post was "Is Hide on his way to the Priveleges Committee". The title is very similar to a post at The Standard, apart from an extra word and the obvious error.

Yesterday's one was "Oh dear - Hyde the costs". It has at least five subbing errors in the post. It was the same title as a similar post at The Standard. But Burt, at Editing The Standard, didn't actually "edit" The Standard to spell Hide's name correctly, either.

If someone is to set up a blog specifically to be a critic of the editorial content of another blog, you think the first thing that person would do is to spell words correctly, especially the post titles, and put full stops at the end of sentences.

Actually the spelling of the name was deliberate. It was a reference to an earlier post "How Hyde is wasting my taxes on an uncosted project"That had this to say at the end of the post..
"Thanks for those telling me that Hyde should be spelt Hide - I think that you’re wrong. He has gone from a friendly gnome or the dancing of Grope the Stars to snakeoil salesman without drinking a potion.

The Standard isn't a news site. It is simply people voicing their opinions on a blog site. I think that the transformation of Rodney from opposition to being in government was akin to that in the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Hide to Hyde....

BTW: I must have a look at blogger to see if the exclusion strategies I use on TS to keep trolls out will also work on blogger. It is becoming a salient issue.

But Burt, at Editing The Standard, didn't actually "edit" The Standard to spell Hides name correctly, either.I wouldn't normally make this sort of comment, but given the content of the post, I thought I'd point out that you're missing an apostrophe.

It is Editing The Standard, by a guy called Burt, who can't spell. And this is somewhat confused: "a guy called Burt" appears parenthetical, but shouldn't.

yo mean you've seen people from Salient spamming other sites too?No, but I have a requests for help from a few people running blogger who have had bad trolling recently. Problem is that I've never used blogger.

In wordpress it is relatively simple to do it manually. You use the IP number or partial IP numbers reported in admin mode against the comments and put that into the moderation section of 'discussion'.

It gets even the most obnoxious of trollers.
