CYFS and police inconsistant

We have a case where a 13-year old girl gave birth to a child fathered by a 20 year old person she was having sex with for at least two years.

CYFS knew about it, so does the police. Police have decided not to lay charges. Nothing to see here, no evidence, apart form a child, move on. The whanau is not talking. THe girl will get the dpb in a few years but the 20-year old will not be paying child support you can bet on that.

You can also bet that if this was a smacking case the family would not be talking either - but police would be visiting the family because CYFS would be pushing for charges. Thats because CYFS are the new child abuse police and what they say goes.

I know this is a terrible admission, but I actually agree with Cindy Kiro on this. The police MUST prosecute the father. The Courts should decide whether or not there is merit in the prosecution, and whether any further penalty is imposed, not the police.

There are parrallels between this case and the one that Katherine Rich has been chasing Carter with in the House the last couple of weeks - the Principal of Hato Paora College near Feilding who has been arrested on a number of sex charges - reported to the BoT who found nothing, then to CYFS, and only to the police once the media got on to it.

Inventory2, Cindy Kiro says police were hamstrung when family members refused to talk.

Has she not heard of DNA, The police must prosecute the paedophile. Even if Labour flew a kite about lowering the age of consent to 12 there is no way someone 8 year older that a girl should not be charge why a 13 year old girl gets pregnant.

If Cindy Kiro does not start doing her job which she is paid very well opposition MOPs should loudly call for her to resign.
